ARCANUM, Ohio — The Indians found a way to tie the Trojans in the top of the seventh, but with two outs and the bases loaded, they couldn’t prevent the loss.
Jordyn Garbig contributed the walk off single for the Arcanum Trojans to take down the Fort Recovery High School softball team 6-5 on Friday.
Cam Garbig led off the seventh inning by reaching base off of Britney Tebbe’s error at first base. She then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt.
The Indians (4-7) intentionally walked Kenzie Byrne to get to Matty Noe, who grounded out to Cali Wendel at shortstop.
Fort Recovery then intentionally walked Ella Flatter to load the bases for Jordyn Garbig, who’s infield single to Wendel pushed Cam Garbig across the plate to win the game for the Trojans (9-7).
Fort Recovery scored in the first, sixth and seventh innings, plating two in both first and last. Ava Grisez led in RBIs, hits and runs with two of each. She opened the scoring with a home run in the first inning.
Emma Will, Ella Schoen and Kayla Heitkamp all also had two hits, while Will added a pair for runs.
Jenna Homan suffered the loss, giving up six runs — four of which were earned — on 10 hits and three walks while going the distance. She also recorded two strikeouts.
