Charles Irvin Brown Jr., 68, of rural Pennville, Indiana, Penn Township, Jay County, passed away at 9:43 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.
He was born on Sunday, Sept. 4, 1955, in Portland, Indiana. Charles was a lifetime resident of Jay County. He married Teresa K. (Jackson) Brown on Saturday, July 24, 1993, at the Chester Center Christian Church.
Charles attended the Pennville Schools. He had worked at Keebler, Bluffton, Indiana, CTS, Berne, Indiana, and retired from Gripco, Montpelier, Indiana, where he was a press operator.
Charles attended Walnut Corner Church in Portland. He loved coon hunting and was a member of the Limberlost Coon Hunters Association in Bryant, Indiana. Charles was an avid Indiana University basketball fan, enjoyed watching baseball and basketball, and loved watching his grandkids sporting events.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Teresa K. (Jackson) Brown, Pennville, Indiana; sons Jason Brown, Pennville, Indiana, and Ramie (Stacy) Brown, Redkey, Indiana; daughters Mindy (Nathan) Coates, Decatur, Indiana, and Allison Alford, Markle, Indiana, grandchildren Cole Brown, Alexis Clark, Mackenzie Brown, Mercedes (Ryan) Hockemeyer, Mitchell Coates and Megan Coates; great-grandchild Rylee Hockemeyer; sisters Connie Ferguson, Portland, Indiana, and Cynthia (Bruce) Naylor, Decatur, Indiana; and brother Lowell "Dean" Brown, Pennville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles I. Brown Sr.; and mother Delores "Jean" (Geiger) Brown.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, located at 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A service to celebrate his life will follow at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Hill – I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville.
Preferred memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
