Susan Betts

Susan E. Betts, age 70, of rural Portland passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at her residence.

She was born in St. Mary’s, Ohio on Feb. 15, 1954, the daughter of Richard and Juanita (Carter) Bollinger. She was married on Nov. 15, 1985, to Francis Betts, who survives.

Susan had worked for SLT Furniture and Ludwigs Grocery. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and her dogs.

Surviving are her husband Francis; one son, Chad Bellis (wife: Danielle) of Portland; one daughter, Tara Leese (husband: Shaun) of Winchester; two stepsons, Josh Betts of Pennville and Stephen Betts (wife: Rochelle) of Pennville; one stepdaughter, Michelle Michael of College Grove, Tennessee; one sister, Ann Bollinger of Bryant; two half brothers, Rick Bollinger of Bryant and Chad Bollinger of Berne; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Bollinger and Johnny Bollinger.

There will be a celebration of life service at a later date.

Baird-Freeman Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
