With deep affection and respect, we remember Richard G. Mock, a man of immense love, generosity and talent.
Born on May 11, 1959, in Bluffton, Indiana, Richard, known as Ric to all his family and friends, was a man who loved his family, relished in friendly competition and held a deep love for his hometown, Dunkirk.
Ric’s career as a tool and die worker for Chrysler Automotive showcased his unique skills and talents. Even after retiring in 2021, his creative spirit remained, practicing the art of drawing and enjoying the peace it gave him. He also took great pleasure in the simple joys of life, like baseball and fishing. The love of sports made him a cherished teammate and opponent on the baseball field. He was a dedicated member of the Dunkirk Elks Lodge and an attendee of The Rock Church. Ric enjoyed spending time with his friends, whether on the phone or in person.
Ric’s loving spirit will continue to live on through his wife, Jo Ann Mock, whom he married on Oct. 1, 1983. His children, Cory (Taylor) Mock and Lee (Kathryn) Mock; granddaughter Emmalyn Mock; and a future grandchild also survive him. He is remembered by his parents, Ruth and Dewaine Geesaman; brother Stan Mock; and sisters Rhonda (Roger) Skeens, Debbie (Bob) Helfst, Cheryl Williams and Linda Green.
Ric was preceded in death by his father Jerry (stepmother: Agatha) Mock; and brothers Dennis and Mike Lewis.
The celebration of Ric’s life will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Wilson-Shook Funeral Homes and Cremation Center (Dunkirk Memorial Chapel). The visitation will be at the same venue on Thursday, May 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. and an hour prior to services on Friday. Burial will follow in Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Dunkirk, Indiana.
As we celebrate Ric’s life, we invite all who knew him to leave memories and upload photos on his memorial page at wilsonshookfh.com. Let us remember Ric, not for his departure, but for the loving, generous and talented life he led.
