Disruption.
The Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks had all three on display Saturday as they handed the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team a 62-43 defeat.
The loss dropped the Indians to 1-3 on the season after they picked up their first win 50-39 Friday over Indian Lake.
Mississinawa Valley (3-0) had three players score in double figures and two more on the verge as it took control of the game by outscoring the Tribe 36-21 in the middle two quarters. Brooklyn Seubert led the scoring effort as she tallied 16 points to go along with her game-high 10 rebounds. Syenna Purdin and Paige Emrick each had 11 points, and Taylee Woodbury and Makenna Hoggatt added nine apiece.
Most of the scoring for the Blackhawks came from their ball movement as they assisted on 18 of their 25 made field goals. Woodbury dished out 10 assists.
Mississinawa Valley’s defense also caused problems for the Indians, creating 19 steals. Eight of those came from Woodbury.
Kennedy Muhlenkamp paced Fort Recovery with 14 points while Makenna Huelskamp, who hit three 3-pointers, joined her in double figures with 11. Bridget Homan added eight points and Karlie Niekamp scored seven.
The Indians will open Midwest Athletic Conference play on Thursday when they host St. Henry (2-0, 1-0 MAC).
