Jay County High School Music Department will present its winter concert at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is free to the event, which will be held in Jay County High School’s auditorium. Patrons may enter through door eight.
Also, Jay County Choral Boosters will sponsor a cookie walk from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, and Jay County Patriot Band will sell poinsettias at the concert on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Preventative healthcare
Mercer Health is offering a free community education series designed to empower the community to live a healthier lifestyle.
Preventative Healthcare 101 begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Mercer County Community Hospital, 800 W. Main St., Coldwater, Ohio. Doctor Wilfred Ellis and certified nurse practitioner Michelle Ashman of Mercer Health’s Disease Management Center will provide tips on how to prevent infectious diseases and lower extremity complications from conditions like diabetes and chronic wounds.

Jayland festivities
Jayland Partners is hosting its annual Christmas party next week.
It’s also recognizing two community members for positively impacting the lives of people living with disabilities in Jay County.
The free event, slated for 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at Bryant Wesleyan Church, is intended for people with disabilities, friends, families and caregivers. There will be music, snacks and drinks.
Also during the party, the group will award Leland and Judy LeMaster, founders of Special Day for Special People, with the Larry Grier Community Champion Award for their efforts in the community.
Senior learning
John Jay Center for Learning has another senior learning event coming up.
Steve Bishop, a Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps leader, and JROTC cadets will share a presentation Thursday on the JROTC program offered at Jay County High School. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation to follow.
Tickets are $5 and intended for anyone 55 years old and older.
Museum hosting
The David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University is showcasing The Art of Elizabeth Catlett from the Collection of Samella Lewis through Dec. 20.
Lewis was a professor emerita of art history at Scripps College in Claremont, California. He was a student under Catlett, a sculptor and printmaker recognized as one of the most significant African American artists in the 20th century, in the 1940s.
Admission is free.
