Driver injured
A Pennville man was injured after he lost control of his vehicle and rolled it off county road 200 West about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Merlin L. Meadows, 20, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu along the road near county road 50 North. According to information from witness John Hershberger and the crash investigation, Meadows began driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle on the slick road surface, causing his car to go off the east side of the road and roll several times.
Meadows appeared confused, answered questions slowly and slurred his speech, according to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report. He was administered a drug and alcohol blood test with results pending. Meadows complained of neck and back pain, and he was transported to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for his injuries.
His vehicle was towed, with damage estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
