Indians fall despite 22 points from Muhlenkamp
ST. HENRY, Ohio — Kennedy Muhlenkamp scored 14 points in the last two games.
The Indians senior took another step forward and scored eight points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough for the Indians to take down their Ohio 119 rivals.
Despite getting 22 points from Kennedy Muhlenkamp, the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team fell to St. Henry in the Midwest Athletic Conference opener 44-42 on Thursday.
The Indians (1-4, 0-1 MAC) trailed by four points going into the fourth quarter. FRHS only gave up one field goal in the period to Alexis Buschur — the leading scorer for St. Henry with 13 — but gave up another eight points on free throws.
Yet, Fort Recovery kept pace due to eight points by Kennedy Muhlenkamp. She opened the scoring with a 3-point play before hitting another shot inside the arc and one outside of it.
Two more baskets by Bridget Homan and Makenna Huelskamp got the Indians to 12 points in the quarter, but they couldn’t manage to tie before time expired. Homan finished as the Indians’ second leading scorer with seven points, while Huelskamp had five. Cameron Muhlenkamp added four.
Kennedy Muhlenkamp had at least four points in each quarter. The opening period was her best, putting up 10 points on a pair of threes, two free throws and a 2-point bucket.
Molly Wendel also broke double digits for St. Henry (3-0, 2-0 MAC), scoring 10.
