Lloyd Gene Knittle, 80, Portland, passed away, Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at his home in Portland.
Lloyd was born Feb. 3, 1944, in Decatur, the son of Dale Knittle and Mildred Miller. Lloyd graduated from Adams Central High School in 1962 and served in the United States Air Force.
Lloyd was a member of Westchester Church for over 50 years. He retired from the Portland Forge after 31 years in 1995 and Franklin Electric Bluffton in 2005. Lloyd was an avid collector and known by everyone in the community.
Lloyd married Susan Hartnagel on Oct. 23, 1964.

His loving wife of 60 years — Susan Knittle, Portland, Indiana
Two sons — Jeff Knittle (wife: Clara), Portland, Indiana, and Brett Knittle (wife: Teresa), Oldenburg, Indiana
Five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren
His loyal companion — Scout
Sister — Mary Sheets, Berne, Indiana
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter Jane Byard; three brothers, Richard, Jerry and Allen Knittle; and a sister, Emily Hart.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Westchester Church, 4487 E. 400 North, Portland, with visitation an hour before the service. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery west of Bryant. Military rites will be conducted by the Portland American Legion Post 211.
