Lost control
A Redkey man lost control of the car he was driving near the intersection of county road 50 North and State Line Road, causing him to go off the road and crash just after midnight Saturday.
Blake I. Crabtree, 22, was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion west along Zehringer Road in Ohio. He told police he was driving at a high speed, making it impossible for him to completely stop at the intersection with State Line Road. Crabtree drove through the intersection and said the car went airborne over the ditch, according to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report, and landed in the field west of the road.
The vehicle was towed, with damage estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Intersection crash
Damage is estimated between $25,000 and $50,000 after a Bluffton woman drove into a truck, causing a collision at Indiana 67 and Indiana 26 about 9 a.m. Monday.
Donna S. Cortright, 67, was driving a 2020 Ford Escape east on Indiana 26 near the intersection with Indiana 67 when she came to a stop sign, according to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report. She turned into the side eastbound 2021 International truck driven by 35-year-old Dustin M. White of Coldwater.
The truck White was driving is registered to John Cheeseman Trucking of Fort Recovery, Ohio.
