The Indians pushed them but couldn’t get the Patriots to break.
The Jay County Junior High School girls basketball teams won a pair of close games to the Fort Recovery Indians on Thursday.
The eighth grade team escaped by four points in a 23-19 win. Natalie May led a balanced scoring effort with eight points.
Other scorers for the Patriots (11-1) were Elizabeth Brunswick (five), Raylin Hummer (four), Gabi Petro (two), Amelia Heath (two) and Amara Crawford (two).
Karsyn Schwieterman powered the seventh grade team’s 28-12 win with 17 points.
Charlee Peters scored seven points for the Patriots (12-0) while Alivya Schwieterman and Claudia Dirksen added a bucket.
