Neurodiversity workshop set for February
An opportunity to learn about neurodiversity in the workplace is scheduled for February.
Indiana Youth Institute will host Introduction to Neurodiversity in Youth Work at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at Blackford Junior-Senior High School.
The event will feature High Five School founder Nathan Maynard. It is an interactive workshop “designed to equip youth workers, educators, and community leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to create inclusive environments that celebrate neurodivergent youth.” Attendees will learn about neurodiversity and its history and the complications regarding diagnosis.
The workshop is free and lunch will be provided. Those interested in attending should register in advance by visiting iyi.org/events.
Book signing
A local pastor and author will be signing books Friday.
Phill Jellison of Portland will be at McDonald’s, 618 N. Meridian St. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. His books — they’ll be available to purchase Friday — include “The 30 Years of Revivals in Portland and jay County Indiana,” “What a Mighty God” and “Comparing Biblical Tongues with Modern Tongues.”

Applications open
Indiana Department of Environmental Management is accepting nominations for the 2024 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence.
Awards will be presented for energy efficiency/renewable resources, environmental education/outreach, five-year continuous improvement, greening the government, land use/conservation, pollution prevention and recycling/reuse.

President’s List
Several local students were named to the President’s List at their universities.
Megan Knapke and Morgan Litmer of Fort Recovery both made Miami University’s fall semester list, which ranks students in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division.
Makenzie Ring of Dunkirk and Isaac Braun, Levi Peterson and Olivia Rowles of Portland earned Trine University’s fall semester honors, which require students to complete a minimum of 12 hours and keep a GPA of 3.750 to 4.000.
Collectibles show
Collectibles of all kinds will be back at Jay County Fairgrounds this weekend.
Jay County Fair Cards Coins Comics and Collectibles is slated for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds. The show features sports cards, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, coins, Coca-Cola items, NASCAR memorabilia, Funko Pop! items, comic books and vintage toys.
Hosting market
Minnetrista of Muncie is hosting indoor farmers markets this season.
Its first market kicks off Saturday.
The indoor market will be held at the Center Building at Minnetrista, 1200 N. Minnetrista Parkway, Muncie. Participating vendors accept SNAP, WIC, IU Health Bucks and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
Other dates for the indoor market include Feb. 17, March 2 and March 16.
