Myrtle Marcella Doherty, 89, of Geneva, Indiana, passed away at 7:49 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Adams Woodcrest Nursing Center in Decatur, Indiana.
She was born on Thursday, May 17, 1934, in Adams County, Indiana. She married Kenneth Alvin Doherty on Saturday, Jan. 3, 1953, in Richmond, Indiana.
Marcella was a 1952 graduate of Bryant High School. She formerly attended the High Street United Methodist Church in Geneva. She had worked for Graber Egg Processing in Berne and for G.E. in Decatur. Marcella was a lifetime member of the Geneva Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association. She enjoyed her vegetable and flower garden.
Marcella will be sadly missed by her daughters Penny (Mike) Hirschy, Decatur, Indiana, and Lois (Phil) DeBolt, Roanoke, Indiana; grandsons Nathan (Kelsi) Hirschy, Fortville, Indiana, and Matthew (Taren) DeBolt, Friant, California; granddaughters Melissa (Kevin) Dickman, Convoy, Ohio, and Michelle (William) Bostain, Middlebury, Indiana; great-granddaughters Macie Dickman, Myla Dickman and Maren Dickman, Convoy, Ohio, Madeline Hirschy and Mackenzie Hirschy, Fortville, Indiana, and Elena Bostain and Rylie Bostain, Middlebury, Indiana; and great-grandsons McCormick Hirschy, Fortville, Indiana, Konnor Dickman, Convoy, Ohio, and Sonny DeBolt and Vaughn DeBolt, Friant, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Alvin Doherty; father Ivan E. Hough; mother Wilma M. (Roe) Hough; brothers Charles, Carl and Fred Hough; and sisters Betty Huey, Shirley “Ene” Mann, Rosie Davis, Donna Hough and Margaret Davis.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, located at 100 N. Washington St. Geneva, Indiana, on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to service on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
A service to celebrate Marcella’s life will be at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Interment will follow in the Backesto Cemetery in Berne.
