Fell asleep
A Greenfield man fell asleep at the wheel, causing him to drive into a Portland man’s car on Indiana 67 about 7 a.m. Monday.
Giovanny Meneses, 22, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla west on the highway when he fell asleep. The vehicle crossed the center line and hit a guardrail in the eastbound lane before striking an eastbound 2005 Ford F-150 driven by 23-year-old Chandler D. Chapman.
Meneses sustained a leg injury, and Chapman had a scrape on his face. Both vehicles were towed, with damage estimated between $25,000 and $50,000.
