Ninety-six students honored for academics

Jay County High School hosted its annual Academic Awards banquet March 18.

Funded by Portland Morning and Evening Optimists, the event honored 96 students, each representing the top 10% of their class. Freshmen and sophomores had to have a 4.0 GPA to qualify, juniors had to have a 4.159 GPA and seniors had to have a 4.192 GPA. 

Those in the freshman class honored were Caylin Aker, Ariel Beiswanger, Wyatt Bihn, Dakota Blalock, Beckett Brandenburg, Chloe Byrum, Peyton Carpenter, Declan Earnhart, Tessa Frazee, Joseph Geesaman, Trinity Glassford, Dawson Goldsworthy, Lydia Johnson, John Lin, Lexi Litmer and Liam McBride.

Also Paycie McCoy, Alison McGraw, Wyatt Mock, Angie Navarro Garcia, Daniela Orozco Muñoz, Madison Paxson, Ella Rigby, Moa Sakamoto, Brenna Schmiesing, Hallie Schwieterman, Elijah Stockton, Allison Tipton, Lynzie Tobe, Carley Trinidad, Isabel Vazquez and Jacob Weitzel.

Sophomores honored were Reba Ashcraft, Garrett Bennett, Joseph Boggs, Francisco Bravo, Anthony Castro Martell, Brennan Chrisman, Raniah Cross, Cara DeRome, Logan Doll, Faith Faulkner, Maria Hemmelgarn, Sophia Hoevel and Kayla Jetmore.

Also Lillian Johnson, Mya Kunkler, Nicholas Laux, Drew Muhlenkamp, Lani Muhlenkamp, Raylah Newton, Katelyn Rowles, Jacey Smith, Kade Sommers, Andrew Stouder, Gradin Swoveland and Kenzie Tobe.

Juniors honored were Adam Alig, Coryn Blalock, Keira Corwin, Kadon Craig, Morgan DeHoff, Eli Dirksen, Meredith Dirksen, Luke Fugiett, Blake Kahlig, Audrey Muhlenkamp, Duston Muhlenkamp, Levi Muhlenkamp, Cameran Paxson, Adamaris Ruiz Herrera, Madelynn Snow, Ella Stockton, Carter Wellman and Mallory Winner.
