Roger D. Prescott, age 80, of Portland passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, in the Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. 

He was born in Randolph County on Jan. 29, 1944, the son of Robert and Edith (Hiatt) Prescott. He was married on June 13, 1964, to Linda F. Oswalt who survives.

Roger was retired as office administrator for Jay Petroleum after 32 years and had worked at Cochran Hatchery for 12 years. He was a 1962 Ward Jackson High School graduate, a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Portland Evening Optimists and Silver Sneakers Exercise Class, coached Little League sports, was a Jay County High School sports fan, attending most games, and was an avid pickleball and shuffleboard player.

Surviving is his wife Linda; two sons, Bob Prescott (wife: Laura) of Peru, Indiana, and Stephen Prescott (wife: Jane) of Portland; one daughter, Rogina Prescott (Gene Steveson) of Portland; two brothers, Paul Prescott (wife: Sheridan) of Lakeland, Florida, and Max Prescott (wife: Debra) of Ansonia, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Colton and Hunter Prescott both of Winchester, Skyler Prescott of Portland, Kordell Prescott of Columbus, Indiana, and Lindley Prescott of Peru, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Prescott.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. in the Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Boggs presiding. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church.
