Three teams scored in double digit runs on Wednesday in Portland Junior League Rookie baseball.
POET Bioprocessing put up the most dominant performance with a 15-2 beating of Pak-A-Sak.
Corbin Hutzler led the way for POET with four hits, including two triples and a double. Harvey Hemmelgarn supported with an inside-the-park home run. Hutzler, Hemmelgarn and Nolan Homan all scored three runs.
Cook’s Nursery edged out Matt’s Garage 17-15 as five players tallied four hits each.
Kayden Alberson, Trey Hirschey and Brantly Sager all finished 4-for-4 from the plate for Cook’s Nursery. On the other side, Duke Armstrong and Rowan Ingram both collected four singles.
PG14 wins
PG14 defeated Lions Club 6-1 in Portland Junior League Willie Mays baseball on Thursday.
Eli Homan and Blake Jellison provided the offense for PG14 with a home run and a two-RBI double, respectively.
Beckham Hough tossed a bulk of the game for PG14, striking out five batters over three innings.
Despite the loss, Lions Club got a nice performance from Ryker Price on the mound as he struck out the side in all three of his innings.
Gabe Lutes drove in the only run for Lions Club with a walk.
Rock and Optimist win
The Rock and Optimist both won their Portland Junior League softball games on Wednesday.
The Rock claimed an 11-7 victory over Crossroads in minor softball.
Carsyn Guggenbiller and Maggie Westgerdes both finished 3-for-3 in the game with two runs for The Rock. Westgerdes also had a triple.
Optimist’s win in rookie softball came against Wings and Rings with a score of 18-8.
Zoey Williams and Charlee Taylor both led Wings and Rings with three singles. Williams scored three times while Taylor added one run.
