Turning accident
A Portland woman and two children sustained injuries after she drove into the path of a Portland man’s vehicle at the intersection of Indiana 67 and Tyson Road about 4:41 p.m. Thursday.
Kristin N. McKee, 39, was driving a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee west on Tyson Road when she stopped at its intersection with the highway.
At the same time, David A. Grayson, 45, was driving his 2005 Chevrolet Suburban south on Indiana 67. He told police McKee proceeded into the intersection and stopped before beginning to turn west. Grayson said he tried to stop but wasn’t able to avoid hitting McKee’s vehicle, causing it to go off the west side of the road and flip on its side.
McKee was trapped in her vehicle and sustained bruising on her face. Passenger Asher Sharf, 7, sustained a bruise on his head, and passenger Taven McKee, 14, complained of back pain.
McKee was cited with an infraction for driving with a suspended license and failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic.
Both vehicles were towed, with damage estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
