FORT RECOVERY — Bridget Homan was scoreless in the first quarter.
She made one shot each in the second and third.
With the Indians fighting for their first win, she came up big in the final eight minutes.
Homan, a sophomore, tallied nine of her game-high 14 points in the final quarter Friday night to help the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team secure a 50-39 victory over the Indian Lake Lakers.
The win was the first of the season for the Tribe, which dropped its first game 40-24 to 2024 state final four squad Crestview and then lost 34-33 on a buzzer-beater Nov. 23 to Arcanum after taking the lead with just 1.1 seconds left.
Fort Recovery (1-2) was holding on to a five-point lead over the Lakers (1-2) on Friday before Homan went to work in the fourth quarter. She hit a 3-pointer and added three baskets from inside the arc as the Indians scored 19 points in the final eight minutes.
Kennedy Muhlenkamp, who matched Homan with points and Cameron Muhlenkamp added four points apiece in the final period.
Karlie Niekamp also reached double figures with a dozen points for the Indians. Seven of those came in the third quarter.
Only one player, Kennedy Schwanderer, reached double figures for Indian Lake. She had eight points in the first half and added a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter as she finished with 11 points. Carly Strayer, Courtney Altstaetter and Mackenzie Dixon added six points apiece.
The Indians are back in action today as they travel to Union City to take on the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks (2-0).
