Maitlens celebrate 50-year anniversary today

Bonnie and Gary Maitlen are celebrating 50 years of marriage today.

Gary Lynn and Bonnie Ruth Maitlen of Portland wed Nov. 30, 1974, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. They had three sons, Jason (Heather) Maitlen, Eric (Jillian) Maitlen and Andrew (Janna) Maitlen. They also have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Maitlen serves as a leadership consultant and executive coach, having worked for more than 30 years coaching in more than 34 countries. She’s a partner at Optimum Impact Coaching of Cincinnati, Ohio. Gary Maitlen served 20 years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired as a lieutenant colonel. He’s currently in charge of the Portland American Legion Honor Guard and manages Jay County Scout Facility.

The Maitlens celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Scotland, Ireland and Wales, as well as a party with their children earlier this year. They’ll be traveling to New York City with friends to continue their celebration.
