Lawrence “Rod Dad” Kirkpatrick, age 77, a resident of rural Bryant, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at his home.
Lawrence was born April 25, 1947, in Marion, Indiana, the son of Lester and Dora May (Wardrip) Kirkpatrick. He graduated from Pennville High School in 1965 and married Linda Moses on May 7, 1966.
Lawrence worked for Strick Trailers in Monroe. He was a member of the Pennville Masonic Lodge and enjoyed classic cars and drag racing.

His wife of 58 years — Linda Kirkpatrick, rural Bryant, Indiana
Two daughters — Cheryl Smiley (husband: Bruce), Fishers, Indiana, and Michele Sutton (husband: Jay), Zionsville, Indiana
Five grandchildren — Megan Busch, Katelyn Smiley, Erin Smiley, Sam Sutton and Kylie Sutton
One great-grandchild — Sophie Busch
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Dora May Kirkpatrick; and two siblings, James Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth Krum.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Masonic services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Funeral services will follow the Masonic service at the funeral home. Pastor Dave Davidson will officiate and burial will follow at IOOF Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cornerstone Church of Pennville or Pennville Volunteer Fire Department.
