Lost control
Damage is estimated between $10,000 and $25,000 after a Portland teen lost control of the vehicle he was driving along Treaty Line Road, causing an accident about 11:20 p.m. Friday.
James A. Lautzenheiser Jr., 14, was driving a 2011 Ford Explorer at a high rate of speed northeast on the road just east of county road 400 East when the car lost traction with the road. The vehicle went into a ditch on the southeast side of the road and into a tree before spinning 180 degrees.
Lautzenheiser’s passenger, 15-year-old James H. Pritchard of Portland, complained of head pain.
The vehicle is registered to Gary D. Clark of Portland, and it was towed.
Sign hit
A Portland man crashed into a stop sign at the intersection of Meridian and Penn streets in Portland about 3:14 p.m. Thursday.
Larry Nelson, 45, was driving his 2019 Chevrolet Camaro east on Penn Street. He told police a 2019 Ford Fusion, driven by 60-year-old Jackie Alig of Portland, was driving west in his lane and about to crash into him. Nelson told police he swerved out of the way and struck a stop sign.
Damage is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000. Alig was cited with an infraction for driving on the wrong side of the road.
