Stephen K. Prescott, age 56, of rural Portland passed away on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at his residence.
He was born in Portland on Sept. 9, 1968, the son of Roger and Linda (Oswalt) Prescott. He was married on April 21, 1990, to Jane Noe who survives.
Steve had worked as a funeral director at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home for 38 years, manager of Jay County Monuments, co-owner of Mrs. P’s Kitchen and had Prescott Cattle Company with his two sons. He was a 1986 Jay County High School graduate where he played football, baseball and wrestled, graduate of Mid America Mortuary School and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Jay Lodge #87, Scottish Rite and Shrine. He also had been a member of Jayland Trotting Association and was a 4-H board member.
Surviving is his wife Jane; two sons, Colton Prescott and Hunter Prescott, both of Winchester; his mother Linda Prescott of Portland; brother Bob Prescott (wife: Laura) of Peru; sister Rogina Prescott (companio: Gene Steveson); Lewe his dog; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Smith presiding. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m.
