Getting relief from a tough Midwest Athletic Conference schedule, the Indians got back into the win column.
The Fort Recovery High School volleyball team took down Wapakoneta 26-24, 25-19, 25-13 on Monday.
The Indians (8-6) put up a strong defensive effort at the net with eight total blocks. Karlie Niekamp had two solo blocks and two assisted blocks, while Brynn Willmann had one solo block and three assisted to lead the way. Cameron Muhlenkamp added two assisted blocks, while Kennedy Muhlenkamp, Kayla Heitkamp and Bridget Homan all had one assisted block.
Cameron Muhlenkamp led the attack with 10 kills. Kennedy Muhlenkamp, Homan and Niekamp followed with eight, seven and six kills, respectively.
Kayla Heitkamp tallied 28 assists, while five more Indians added a total of eight.
Kennedy Muhlenkamp (15), Cameron Muhlenkamp (13) and Kenna Dues (10) all broke double-digit digs to support the defensive effort.
FRHS aced Wapakoneta (6-10) eight times, with Heitkamp and Kennedy Muhlenkamp both adding three and Dues putting out two.
Tribe drops final
SIDNEY, Ohio — The Fort Recovery boys golf team fell in its final dual-match of the season 153-167 against the Botkins Trojans on Monday at Shelby Oaks Golf Club.
Reece LeFevre led the way for Fort Recovery (8-8) with a 2-over-par 38, powered by one birdie, five pars and three bogeys.
Botkins’ Ross Dietz earned the match medalist honors with a 3-under-par 33.
Mason Diller shot a career best 42 to add the second score for the Indians. He made par on the first, second, fourth and ninth holes.
Keegan Muhlenkamp added a round of 43, while Eli Lennartz and Caleb Smith rounded out the team scores with 44s.
Colson Post’s 48 strokes didn’t play into the Indians’ team score.
