Judith Jo “Judy Gaunt, 86, of Dunkirk, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, peacefully surrounded by loved ones at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.
Judy was born in Indianapolis on July 1, 1938, a daughter of the late Mary Maude (LeMasters) and James H. Hollenbaugh. She was a 1956 graduate of Manual High School in Indianapolis and formerly employed as a machine operator for Standard Brush & Broom in Portland, Indiana.
Judy enjoyed working in her flower garden, crocheting, collecting nutcrackers, dancing, going to rummage sales, listening to country and classic rock music and having fun with her grandkids. She will forever be remembered for her wonderful personality, great memory, the sound of her jokes and laughter and her impeccable tidiness.
Judy is survived by her husband, Tony Gaunt, who she happily married on May 20, 1995; one daughter, Paula Bell; two sons, Doug Coy (Darlene) and Nick Gaunt; one sister, Jane Kuroiwa-Crazier; brother-in-law Bob Gaunt; seven grandchildren, David (Angie), Steven, Becky, Logan, Haden, Taylor and Elena; six great-grandchildren, Keelei, Kendrick, Josh, Kelton, Mia and Kaden; three great-great-grandchildren, Jayda, Liam and Gemma; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law Audrey Gaunt; son Craig Coy; four brothers, James Jr. “Bud”, Glenn, Neil and Paul “P.D.”; and four sisters, Laura, Lena, Rose and Judy’s infant twin sister Jewel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Craig Cotherman officiating. Burial will be held in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local animal shelter of your choice in honor of Judy’s love of animals.
