FORT RECOVERY — Alex Dues tossed the first perfect game in the Tribe’s history last season as part of a 4-0 victory over New Bremen.
While it was only in five innings, Caden Homan followed in Dues’ footsteps.
Homan joined his former teammate as he achieved perfection in the Fort Recovery High School baseball team’s 13-0 victory over the New Knoxville Rangers on Tuesday.
Homan joins Dues as just the second pitcher from Fort Recovery (10-4, 2-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) to throw a perfect game. He also added his name to the list of Indian pitchers with no-hitters that is made up of Jerry Orbringer, Dale Bruns, Dominique Coughling, Nick Twaits and Dues.
Homan struck out seven batters in his five-inning perfect game.
There was no shortage of offensive production in the game either.
Mason Diller led the Fort Recovery offense with seven RBIs, three hits and two runs.
The Indians loaded the bases in the fifth inning without creating an out before Diller made his way to the batter’s box. He took the first pitch to left field for a walk-off grand slam to send New Knoxville (2-8, 0-6 MAC) home.
Diller also smacked a bases-clearing double in the second inning and an RBI single in the fourth.
Austin Siegrist and Brodie Hart also drove in a pair of runs apiece. Siegrist and Cody Klenke led FRHS with three runs scored in the contest.
