ARCANUM, Ohio — The Tribe tripped up early against the Patriots in 2024 before putting together one of the strongest seasons in program history.
In 2025, they got off on a much better foot.
The Fort Recovery High School girls golf team beat the Tri-Village Patriots 201-222 at Beechwood Golf Course to open the season on Monday.
Fort Recovery’s returning leader, Olivia Knapke, also had a strong start to the season as her round of 44 earned her match medalist honors. Tri-Village Reagan Brewer posted a 46 to lead the Patriots.
The other three returning members of the 2024 varsity squad filled in the rest of the score for the Indians (1-0). Georgia Wenning carded a 51 out of the No. 4 position, while Mallory Evers trailed by just one stroke. Evvie Briner’s 54 brought the Tribe up to the final of 201.
Sophomores Layla Armstrong and Emily Boeckman also competed, but their scores of 65 and 66, respectively, didn’t crack the top five to affect the final.
LeFevre leads
ARCANUM, Ohio — Reece LeFevre shot an even 36 to lead Fort Recovery’s boys golf team to a 171-202 victory over Tri-Village in Monday’s season opener at Beechwood Golf Course.
LeFevre slipped up on the 13th and 14th holes with a double-bogey and a bogey, but birdies on the 11th, 15th and 18th kept him even as he claimed the match medalist title.
Tri-Village’s Brecken Gray posted the Patriots’ top score of 43, which Caleb Smith beat by one stroke. The junior Indian finished with one birdie, two pars, five bogeys and one double-bogey.
Freshman Andrew Rehmert followed with a 46, while Carter Fortkamp carded a 47 to round out the team score. Luke Fortkamp and Garrett Diller didn’t finish far behind as they shot 48 and 49 respectively, despite their scores not affecting the final.
