Spencer Whittington

Spencer Clifford Whittington, passed away on Aug. 11, 2025, at the age of 88 in Vincennes, Indiana.

Born on May 16, 1937, in Portland, Indiana, to Ruby M. Freeman Whittington and Spencer M. Whittington. 

Spencer was a father of five, grandfather to eight and great-grandfather to four. He is survived by his five children, Deborah Maxwell (Bill) of Portland, Indiana, Charles Whittington (Janet) of Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania, Tamara George of Salisbury, North Carolina, Teresa Bozzarello (John) of Evans, Georgia, and Jeffrey Whittington of Portland, Indiana. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren, Christy (deceased), Erica (deceased), Justin, Monica, Josh, Kaitlyn, Chandler and Victoria; and four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Neveah, Aaliyah and James. Spencer is also survived by two brothers, Paul Whittington (Julie) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Rick Whittington (Linda) of Brownsville, Kentucky.

Spencer was a member of the United States Navy in the field of cryptology. Following his naval career, he then pursued the new emerging field in computer sciences until he retired. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie L. Clark Whittington, along with two sisters and two brothers. 

Spencer's love for music and musical instruments was his life’s passion. This love was a testament to his joyful spirit and creative mind.

There will be a military service at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
