FRHS spikers beat National Trail in three

NEW PARIS, Ohio — The Tribe has found the win column.

Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team picked up its first win of the season on Thursday by sweeping the National Trail Blazers 25-12, 25-10, 25-11.

Cameron Muhlenkamp led the offensive attack with 12 kills, while Bridget Homan followed with 11. Muhlenkamp also had a team-high 2 aces on a perfect 10-of-10 from the service line, while digging eight balls and blocking one attack. Homan dug the ball out five times.

Kayden Ranly had another strong match for the Indians (1-1) in the back row. She had 27 assists and 11 digs while earning two kills and one ace.

Brynn Willmann led at the net with two blocks while adding six kills and one dig as well.


Tribe falls

MINSTER, Ohio — The Fort Recovery boys golf team took a 162-186 loss to the Minster Wildcats on Thursday at Arrowhead Golf Course.

Reece LeFevre finished as the Tribe’s leading golfer with a 42. He made par three times, while shooting bogey on the other six holes.

Minster’s Bryce Prenger earned match medalist honors with a 39. The next two lowest scores also came from the Wildcats.

Caleb Smith followed LeFevre with a 44 for the Indians (5-3, 2-2 Midwest Athletic Conference). Smith had three pars, four bogeys and two double-bogeys.

Luke Fortkamp provided the third score with a round of 48 strokes, while Andrew Rehmert and Garrett Diller both carded 52s to round out the team’s final. Carson Fullenkamp shot a 53 that didn’t affect the outcome.


Wildcats top

The Fort Recovery girls golf team suffered its first loss of the season to the Minster Wildcats at Portland Golf Club on Tuesday 184-204.

Olivia Knapke and Georgia Wenning shot the low for Fort Recovery (4-1, 2-1 MAC) with 50 strokes apiece. (Lauren Heitkamp of Minster was the match medalist at 42.)

Mallory Evers and Evvie Briner each carded 52s to round out the team score.

Out of the fifth and sixth positions, Cora Pearson carded a 54, while Macy Kaffenberger had a 58.

The Tribe beat the Wildcats last season to help secure a perfect record in the MAC and the first conference title. The Indians can still share the conference title by winning out and taking the top spot in the MAC Championships.
