Carol Martz

Carol Weinland Martz passed from this life on Nov. 15, 2025, in Greeneville, Tennessee, due to injuries sustained from a fall at her home. She was 77. 

Carol was born on June 25, 1948, in Fort Wayne and lived in Portland until college. She is survived by one sibling, a brother, John Weinland, of Houston, Texas; and her lifelong friend and ‘adoptive’ sister, Ann (Marshall) Dawe, of Greeneville, Tennessee. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. (Bob) and Louise Weinland.

She was a 1966 graduate of Portland High School. That same summer she was crowned Miss Jay County 1966. Carol moved to West Lafayette, where she attended Purdue University to pursue her undergraduate degree in interior design. In 1970, she received her bachelor of arts degree, although later joking that she was the “least domesticated home economics major ever to graduate from Purdue.”

After college graduation she relocated to Indianapolis, where she co-owned Martz & Martz Catering, which became an authorized food vendor at the Indy 500. In her continual pursuit of entrepreneurship, in 1982 she relocated to Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, to embrace a business opportunity. Never one to shy away from a business risk, in 1984 an opportunity arose to further expand her career in Palm Springs, California. 

In 2002, with aspirations to attend graduate school and be close to family, she moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. In 2005, she graduated from Florida Atlantic University with her master’s of counselor education and became a licensed therapist, practicing in both Florida and Tennessee.
