Tribe suffers first loss to Marion Local

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians held their own in the first and even won the third quarter. But the Tribe got simply outplayed in the second and fourth periods as they dropped their first Midwest Athletic Conference game of the season.

The Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team struggled in the even quarter on Friday as it dropped the MAC opener to the Marion Local Flyers 53-39.

Fort Recovery (3-1, 0-1 MAC) trailed the Flyers (1-0, 1-0 MAC) by six after the first quarter but after scoring just six in the second, they entered halftime down 26-16. FRHS won the third period 15-9 but couldn’t take advantage as Marion Local dropped 18 points in the final eight minutes to claim the game.

Grant Fortkamp led the Indians with 11 points. Seven of those points came in the opening period, with the other four coming in the third.

Breaker Jutte and Brody Barga followed with nine and eight points, respectively. Hudson Overman contributed five points, Braylon Dilworth contributed four and Colson Post found the bucket once for two.

Braden Mescher led all scorers with 17 points for MLHS. He was held scoreless in the third quarter but made two or more buckets in the other three. Kale Ahrens supported Mescher with 13 points, while Grant Kremer and Luke Everman each added eight.
