Tribe girls fall to Panthers

Local roundup

FORT RECOVERY — The Tribe played its second Midwest Athletic Conference opponent and suffered almost the exact same fate.

The Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team fell to the Parkway Panthers 46-29 on Thursday, dropping its eighth game to start the season.

The loss was also the second to come in the MAC for the Indians (0-8, 0-2 MAC) as they lost to Marion Local 47-29 on Dec. 11 with nearly a mirror image of the final score.

Paisley Hart had all five of her points in the first quarter to keep FRHS within striking distance of the Panthers at 12-8. But Fort Recovery only managed a pair of free throws in the second quarter, giving Parkway (6-1, 1-1 MAC) a 9-point advantage at the intermission.

The Tribe offense started to come alive in the third quarter with 12 points, but the defense couldn’t keep up as the Panthers outpaced Fort Recovery 27-19 in the second half.

Cameron Muhlenkamp scored a team-high seven points, all of which came in the fourth quarter, while Maddie Schoenlein had six.

Other FRHS scores came from Hart (five points), Bridget Homan (five), Ivy Tobe (four) and Makenna Huelskamp (two).

Madelyn Stover led Parkway with 20 points, half of which came at the charity stripe. Brittyn Bruns followed with 14 of her own.
