It’s a tradition for The Commercial Review to share a recap of its top 10 local stories in the final newspaper published each year.

We also reviewed our top 10 photos. This feature is designed not to highlight the most important, impactful or influential events of 2025, but rather to give readers a glimpse of what the year was like through what we consider to be some of our best photos of the year.

This year’s selection is mostly full of happy times, from reactions at a polar plunge to athletic elation to Jay County High School pregame activities to a variety of other moments that elicited smiles.

Our top photo of the year is the one displayed above featuring Abby Brockman rushing back out of the pond northwest of Moser Engineering during United Way of Jay County’s Peggy’s Plunge.

The polar plunge in honor of Peggy Atkinson raised money for Jay County’s Special Olympics, cancer society and homeless shelter.
