David A. Scotten, age 94, of Portland passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at his residence.
He was born in Clayton, Indiana, on April 26, 1931, the son of Alva and Irma (Gulley) Scotten. He was married to Joy Moody in 1976 and she passed away in 2015.
David was a graduate of Clayton High School, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was member of Jay County Hospital Auxiliary and American Legion Post #211.
He had owned and operated the Portland Dairy Queen and prior to that worked for StrongBerg Carlson in the telephone business traveling to 32 states. He enjoyed doing stained glass work and had worked security at the Indianapolis 500 for over 20 years.
Surviving are two daughters Jackie Scotten of Flushing, Michigan, and Teresa Rummel of Pleasant Hill, California; his companion Dru Noble of Portland; two stepchildren Mary Ann Sheller of Valapairso, Indiana, and John Sheller of Sarasota, Florida; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren
There will be no funeral services. Burial will be in the Salamonia Cemetery.
