David Miller, age 82, a resident of Portland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at Persimmon Ridge in Portland.
David was born on Feb. 4, 1942, in Wilder, Tennessee, the son of Isaac and Choyce (Norrod) Miller.
David served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Beatty. He worked at Westinghouse and owned and operated the Marathon gas station in Redkey for many years.
David enjoyed fishing and hunting trips to Canada and especially enjoyed bow hunting. David was a devoted member of Redkey Church of the Nazarene.
He married Alona Hatzell on Nov. 5, 2001.

His daughter — Christi Loy (husband Mitch), Portland, Indiana
A son — Brian
Stepson — Shannon Clark (wife Stephanie), Selma, Indiana
Two brothers — Gary Miller (wife: Brenda), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Jack Miller (wife: Nancy), Redkey, Indiana
Several grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Miller.
A celebration of life services may be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to Redkey Church of the Nazarene or Redkey Veterinary Clinic.
Arrangements are entrusted to Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.
