Hallie honored
Hallie Schwieterman’s play locked up a spot on the first team All-Allen County Athletic Conference on Feb. 11.
Nearly a month later, the Patriot reeled in another award.
Schwieterman, a Jay County High School sophomore, was named as an honorable mention for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Franciscan Heath Underclassman All-State team.
The IBCA selected the top 15 girls that were freshman, sophomores or juniors to be on the Supreme 15. It also recognized 15 girls from small schools and 15 girls from large schools for All-State teams, as well as 93 honorable mentions.
The JCHS sophomore led the Patriots to a 10-13 record and a third-place finish in the ACAC at 4-3.
Schwieterman led Jay County in points, rebounds, assists and steals.
She put up 434 points on the season for an average of 18.9 points per game, which was 11.6 higher than the second leading scorer. Schwieterman was the team’s leading scorer in 19 of 23 games, only getting outpaced by Elizabeth Brunswick twice and Raylah Newton in a pair.
Her 5.5 rebounds per game was 0.5 boards above Brunswick’s average. The sophomore dished out 55 assists during the campaign for a 2.4 per game.
Schwieterman, who often played the top spot in Jay County’s 3-2 zone when not in man-to-man, led to her stealing 87 steals. That mark was 47 more than the Brunswick in the second spot on the stat sheet.
