Couldn’t see
Damage is estimated between $50,000 and $100,000 after a Fort Recovery man crashed into a semi at the intersection of Indiana 67 and county road 700 East about 5:51 p.m. Sunday.
Larry A. Muhlenkamp, 78, was driving his 2019 Chevrolet Equinox south on county road 700 East and approaching its intersection with the highway. Muhlenkamp told police he couldn’t see oncoming traffic because of the sun obstructing his vision and pulled into the intersection. He crashed into the fuel tank of a 1999 International 9800 semitruck driven by 66-year-old Timothy W. Sullivan of Russell Springs, Kentucky.
Muhlenkamp’s vehicle spun and crashed into the semi’s trailer before stopping north of the road in a field.
Both vehicles were towed.
