Marilyn Smith

Marilyn J. Smith, age 93, a resident of Portland, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at IU Health Jay in Portland. 

Marilyn was born April 20, 1931, in rural Ridgeville, the daughter of Virgil and Ina (Bourke) Platt. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Portland and enjoyed playing bingo. 

Marilyn married Williard Smith on December 6, 1952 and he passed away on March 2, 2002. 

Survivors include:

One son — Terry Smith, Portland, Indiana 

Her companion — Frank Hogle, Portland, Indiana 

Two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by two children, Ronnie Smith and Pamela Dennis; and one grandchild, Shane Dennis.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Burial will follow at Green Park Cemetery in Portland.
