William Bond Stanley, 95, of Redkey passed away peacefully Friday surrounded by love and comfort at his son’s residence in Fort Wayne.
Bond was born in Redkey on June 26, 1929, a son of the late William E. and Clara (Baugher) Stanley. He was a 1947 graduate of Redkey High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Bond retired from Borg Warner and was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland, more recently attending Aboite Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association and formerly raced at Eldora Speedway during the 1950s. He is known for his love of family, caring, compassionate, patient and supportive nature and his willingness to help his children see their dreams and ideas come to fruition.
Bond enjoyed RC planes, fishing, bowling, woodworking, dedication to his church and being the family repairman.
He is survived by his son Ted A. Stanley (wife: Judy); daughter Tamara J. Dalton (husband: James); three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Patricia Ann (Green) Stanley and brother Frederick Lewis Stanley.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel. Funeral services and military rites will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joe Hines officiating.
Interment will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel.
