Kenneth James Chandler, 75, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2025, in Portland, Indiana.
Born on Feb. 17, 1950, in Noblesville, Indiana, Kenneth served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era when he was stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he dedicated 38 years to Saint Gobain (formerly Ball Glass), first in Asheville, North Carolina, and later in Dunkirk, Indiana, where he retired in 2005.
Kenneth shared 49 years of marriage with his beloved wife Patricia (McKinney) who he married on Aug. 29, 1975. He was a devoted father to his daughter Kensey Albertson and her husband Bobby of Lynn, Indiana, and his son Michael Chandler of Portland, Indiana. He was a proud grandfather to Jonathan Roessner, CJ Albertson and Hannah Chandler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JB and Inez Schneider Chandler of Alexander, North Carolina; and his sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Dan Mendoza of Alexander, North Carolina.
Ken had a zest for life that was unmistakable. Known on the CB radio as the “Beersqueezer,” he never met a stranger. He found joy in the simple pleasures like sitting on the patio, watching NASCAR, sharing breakfast with his friends at Richards, enjoying Mexican dinners on Friday nights and spending time in his garage. Above all, he cherished the moments he spent with his family.
Ken received care from Southern Care Hospice Services during his final days. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date to honor the memory of a man who brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider making a donation to Southern Care Hospice or the Jay County Cancer Society. May his memory bring comfort to all that knew him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Mortuary Services.
Condolences may be offered at KellerMortuary.com.
