Broker change
Jay County Commissioners approved switching insurance brokers Friday.
Commissioners agreed to change back to using OneDigital’s services, effective May 31. The decision stems from commissioners’ choice on Monday to terminate a contract with Understand, Service and Innovate (USI) Insurance Services, after undergoing more than five months of various issues with the company.
The county had been using OneDigital — previously known as Platinum Benefits Consulting Group — before switching to USI Insurance Services in November. At the time, the county had been looking into partially self-funded insurance plans and heard about options from OneDigital, USI Insurance Services and Unified Group Services.
Jay County auditor Emily Franks noted Friday the switch back to OneDigital won’t result in fee differences or other cost changes. Employees will continue using plans through Physicians Health Plan.
