RICHMOND — The Patriots had one final stop before they took on the sectional. They took one inning to earn enough runs to end the game and blow the Red Devils away.
Jay County High School’s softball team closed the regular season with a 25-3 victory over the Richmond Red Devils on Friday.
The Patriots (19-2) exploded for 11 runs in the first inning on seven singles, one double, two walks, one hit batter and one error.
JCHS only scored two runs in the second inning before putting up seven in the third. It finished the game with two more scores in the fourth and three in the final frame.
Brenna Ruble led the offense with four RBIs on three hits, including a double. Jaelynn Lykins followed with three RBIs on two hits.
Morgan Missicano, Jozey Shimp, Jadalyn Plessinger and Chloe Brown each drove in runs as well. Brown led Jay County with five runs scored.
Carley Trinidad threw all five innings for the Patriots, earning the victory. She gave up three earned runs on six hits and one walk. She struck out six batters as well.
Richmond (0-14) scored two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth.
