MINSTER, Ohio — Reece LeFevre led the boys in the first tournament of the season. But in the first match of the year, it was Garrett Diller’s time to shine.
Diller led the Fort Recovery High School boys bowling team to a 2,713-2,659 non-conference victory over the Minster Wildcats at Community Lanes on Saturday.
Diller rolled a 196-pin average with scores of 183 and 209 in the individual games. The only other Indian to break the 200-pin mark was Riley Stammen with a 206.
James Westgerdes and A.J. Siefring both bowled two individual games as well totaling 378 and 356 pins, respectively.
Leland Wilson (176) and Ben Vogel (156) both rolled one game each as well.
In the five baker games, Fort Recovery (1-0) averaged 182.8 pins. The fourth game was the highest at 203, while the Tribe knocked down 201 in the opening game.
Brown leads
MINSTER, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls bowling team picked up its first win over the Minster Wildcats 2,234-2,085 in a non-conference match at Community Lanes on Saturday.
Deanna Brown’s games of 180 and 172 led to a match high average of 176 pins.
Lilah Thien and Jayden Wyerick both bowled two games as well, averaging 166 and 155.5 pins, respectively. Wyerick rolled the high game of 187 pins.
In their career debuts, Elizabeth Kahlig and Liliana Williams shot a 128 and 127, respectively. Malia Grisez (87) and Claire Gaerke (83) both made their debuts for the Indians (1-0).
Fort Recovery totaled 814 pins over the five baker games for a 162.8 average. The fourth game was the high as the Tribe shot a 181.
