Laura Sours, age 71, of Portland passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born in Portland on Oct. 2, 1954, the daughter of Lester Boner and Dortha (Thwaits) Wright. She was married on July 22, 1977, to Robert Sours who survives.
Laura was retired from Crown Pointe in Portland in 2020 after 20 years and had worked for Community Care Center West. She was a member of Praise Chapel Church of God and served on the church board.
She attended Madison School, was a 1973 Portland High School graduate and attended Ball State University. She enjoyed spending time with family and her trips to Fort Myers, Florida.
Surviving are her husband Robert; one daughter, Julie Bruder of Goshen, Indiana; one son, Justin Sours (wife: Lisa) of Troy, Michigan; a granddaughter, Eve Sours; two sisters, Georgeanna Aslinger of Portland and Norma Weaver of Berne; eight nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Boner; and her parents, Lester and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Adair presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
