Intersection crash
A Muncie man pulled in front of oncoming traffic at the intersection of Indiana 1 and Indiana 67 in Redkey, causing an accident about 7:53 p.m. Tuesday.
Ryan M. Duncan, 45, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado south on Indiana 1 near when he approached the road’s intersection with Indiana 67. He told police he didn’t see any vehicles at the stop and continued forward. At the same time, Sally M. Miller, 26, Portland, was driving her 2005 Hyundai Tucson east on Indiana 67. Duncan pulled in front of Miller, according to an accident report from Jay County Sheriff’s Office, and Miller wasn’t able to stop before hitting the back of the truck.
Miley Duncan, 13, Redkey, a passenger in Ryan Duncan’s vehicle, complained of ankle pain but refused treatment on scene. Both vehicles were towed, with damage estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
Three vehicles
Damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000 after a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of county road 75 South and Indiana 67 about 3:42 p.m. Monday.
Max C. Klopfenstein, 21, was driving a 2015 Ford Expedition southwest on the highway and approaching traffic in front of him. He told police he pressed on the brake and heard a grinding noise before his car crashed into a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 22-year-old Sophia M. Fugiett in front of him. Her car was pushed into a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 17-year-old Morgan D. Missicano of Portland.
The vehicle Klopfenstein was driving was towed.
Left road
A Berne man complained of arm pain after the truck he was driving left Indiana 1 and hit a utility pole about 11:25 a.m. Friday.
John M. Wanner, 57, was driving a 2015 Phoenix cement mixer truck on the highway near county road 400 South when the truck went off the shoulder of the road. He told police he wasn’t able to steer the truck back onto the road, causing him to go into a ditch and hit the pole registered to American Electric Power.
Wanner was transported to IU Health Jay. His vehicle was towed, with damage estimated between $50,000 and $100,000.
