Jacqueline Cowan

Jacqueline Cowan, age 70, of Portland passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

She was born in Portland, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Helen (Somers) Derringer. She had worked for Ken Kunkle Chevrolet, Teledyne Portland Forge in Portland and UTA in Berne. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting.

Surviving are a daughter, Angela J. Clemmons (husband: David) of Portland; one brother, William Derringer of Troutdale, Oregon; four granddaughters, Bailey Hood, Elizabeth Brooks, Avery West and Megan Slack; and three great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Wyatt and Jeanne Craig.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Schoonover presiding. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Green Park Cemetery.
