Courtney Harris and Audrey Muhelnkamp of the Jay County High School girls tennis team eked out a win in the No. 2 doubles position as the Patriots fell to the Blackford Bruins 3-2 to break a nearly decade-long streak.
4x400 for the win
Makinsey Murphy, who returned to the team after taking a year off, locked up the championship for the Jay County High School girls track at the Wapahani Raider Relays team as she fought back to give the Patriots their only victory in the 4x400-meter relay.
Patriots reclassified to 3A
The IHSAA announced the division alignments for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons for the sports of football, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball and volleyball on Tuesday morning. The Jay County High School football team will shift down into Class 3A for the next two seasons.
Boozier set to retire
Jay School Corporation superintendent Jeremy Gulley sent a press release Tuesday morning confirming that Boozier had given Jay Schools notice of his retirement.
Patriots end indoor season on good note
The Jay County High School indoor track team only had one top-five finish, but had five career best results and an indoor school record at the Blue and White Relays at Anderson University on Saturday.
Taking form
Warmer weather during the winter months allowed for almost continuous work on the Jay County High School Athletic Department’s cleathouse project. The consistent work has gotten the shell of the building built and allowed for work to begin on the field.
JC dominates in finale
The Jay County Junior High School swim team closed out the season Monday when they won all swimming events against the Blackford Bruins.
Mende breaks record
One week after breaking the 60-meter dash school record for the Jay County High School indoor track team, she repeated Saturday at the Bulldog Invitational held at Indiana Tech, hosted by New Haven.
