Process at post office is ridiculous
To the editor: This is about our postal system. For those of you who pay your bills yourself, send cards and letters, etc. Have you ever been charged for a bill that didn’t get to its destination on time or was “lost” in the mail, they say? I have.
Dustin made impact on the cycle
It was 14 years ago when I interviewed Tom Dustin. But if it had been 50 years ago or last week, it wouldn’t have mattered. His core principles would have been the same.

To the editor: The Jay County 4th of July Committee would like to thank the Jay County community for making the 2024 4th of July Celebration another successful celebration.
Jay County Fair has a rich history
One of these days, the sign will have to be changed. Ever since the Roundhouse at the Jay County Fairgrounds was restored in 1986, it has had a sign marking it, “Floral Hall 1891.” Trouble is, it was built in 1883.
Reader disappointed in coverage
To the editor: I was not surprised when Friday’s CBS news said former president Donald Trump lied in the debate but failed to mention that President Joe Biden also lied. That is typical of the Trump haters on CBS.

Recorder caught history in the making
The tape is a time machine. Friday afternoon, alone in my office, I push the play button and Tiananmen Square erupts all over again.

Call added branch to family tree
The phone message went something like this: A woman from Kansas called who said she is related to you. OK, I don’t know about you, but that got my attention. Enough to call back.
Selflessness was signature moment
The place was crawling with Cub Scouts. Not that I have anything against Cub Scouts. I was a Cub Scout myself.

To the editor: May 12 through 18 is National Stuttering Awareness Week. One in every 100 people stutter. That’s 80 million people worldwide. Yet stuttering is often misunderstood and even laughed at.
