Jay girls can’t hang on in second half vs. Knights
Jay County High School’s girls basketball team suffered a 64-56 loss at the hands of the Northeastern Knights on Wednesday.
Freshmen fitting in
Freshmen were responsible for six of the 10 individual victories for the Jay County High School swim teams on Wednesday as the girls beat the Bluffton Tigers 173-133 while the boys fell 190-109.
Guards step up
Gabe Overton reclaimed the lead in the third quarter for the Jay County High School boys basketball team before Jayden Comer put the Richmond Red Devils away in the fourth for a 56-53 victory on Monday.
Jutte jumps Tribe to 1-0
The Tribe had to fight through some inclement weather just to get to Delphos for the season opener. However, the Indians weren’t as icy as the roads as a big first half against the Wildcats.

Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team struggled from long distance Friday and mostly could not find good looks in the paint against the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks as it fell 46-29.
Overcome in opener
As the Patriots took the court on Tuesday, they hadn’t lost a season-opener played at home since 2000. The relentless pressure and effective scoring of the Fort Wayne South Side Archers were enough to overcome the quarter-century-old precedent.

Junior high boys hoopers rout Red Devils
Strong performances from Abram Lee and Job Dirksen lifted the Jay County Junior High School eighth grade boys basketball team past the Richmond Red Devils 47-29 on Tuesday, while the seventh graders picked up a 41-28 victory.
Tribe takes two
In the second match of the day, the Indians didn’t have the prettiest baker scores, but individual efforts were more than enough to push them to a sweep.
Struggles with spares
The Indians are coming off the best season in program history but have some question marks after graduating three starters. A strong pack of Cougars showed them that they will have some work to do to remain competitive.

The No. 9 Jay County High School girls wrestling team suffered its first loss of the season 48-30 at the hands of the Columbia City Eagles on Thursday.
Triple trouble
Jay County High School’s girls basketball team gave up four threes in the final 2 minutes, 20 seconds, of the first half and only managed four second-half field goals as it fell to the Class 3A No. 6 Bellmont Braves 60-39 on Friday.
