Jay boys ripped Raiders in ACAC semifinal
The Patriots walloped the Warriors in the opening round of the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament. Their semifinal opponent didn’t post much of a threat either as the Patriots ripped the Raiders apart to clinch a spot in the final.
Patriots roll to title game
The Patriots haven’t lost back-to-back Allen County Athletic Conference tournaments since 2013 and 2014. If Friday’s performance is any indication, they’re intent on keeping it that way.
Final flourish
There were smiles after the opening round, sadness after the second and frustration following the third. Ultimately, Katie Rowles felt the satisfaction of the referee’s hand slapping the mat in her final match.
Swamped in first half
A strong first half led the Jay County High School boys basketball team to a 65-29 victory over the Woodlan Warriors on Tuesday in the first round of the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament.
Tankers fall at Yorktown
The Jay County High School swim teams lost to the Yorktown Tigers in Tuesday’s meet, which was moved to Yorktown due to issues with the JCHS pool. The boys fell 100-83, while the girls were defeated 106-64.
Patriots earn redemption
The last time Jay County and Woodlan squared off, the Patriots saw their seven-game winning streak snapped in an agonizing 56-54 defeat on Jan. 2. Less than two weeks later, the Jay County High School girls basketball team didn’t let history repeat itself.
Focused on finals
Despite being alone at state, Katie Rowles has her sights set high. The Patriots have had a state champion for four straight years and she intends to make it five.
Lee’s 29 powers eighth grade Patriots
This season, there’s simply been no stopping the Patriots. On Monday, there was no stopping Abram Lee, either.

The Indians not only tore up the Railroaders, but they also snapped a three game skid and hit a program milestone.
Size, shooting, speed
Jay County High School’s boys basketball team shot better than 50% from 3-point range, opened a nine-point lead at halftime and used an 11-0 fourth-quarter run to put the game well out of reach Saturday in a 74-53 victory over the Adams Central Jets.
Katie to state
Katie Rowles, a Jay County High School senior who is ranked seventh in the state at 100 pounds, bowled May over and pinned her in the semifinal round of Saturday’s IHSAA regional tournament at Muncie Central.
Family business
While one Schwieterman got her due for her time served, two more powered the Patriots past an Allen County Athletic Conference foe.
Tribe’s offense stalled for 3 quarters in loss
The Indians found their touch from long range in the fourth quarter. It was not nearly enough to overcome three quarters of offensive woes.
LeFevre leads Tribe bowlers past Lima Bath
Reece LeFevre hasn’t been in the lineup for every match, but when he is, he often produces some solid scores. When the Wildcats came to visit, he was the most consistent of the Indians and powered them to victory.
