The full Jay County Development Corporation board of directors held its first meeting with new executive director Ceann Bales on Tuesday, hearing a report about what she has done in her first weeks on the job and going through an orientation process.

Board members in attendance agreed to call a special meeting within the next few weeks to address contract stipulations from Jay County Commissioners and to take action on a lease agreement with the City of Portland. The board could not take any votes because it did not have a quorum.

The JCDC board of directors voted unanimously Tuesday to request $261,975 from the county for 2025, which would allow the organization to hire a new employee to restore the Jay County Community Development position that has been vacant for nearly two years.

JCDC has agreed to a contract with the county, through the end of the year.
